HT National Facilities: One Year On, New Call Open
On 10 June, Human Technopole marks the one-year anniversary of the official opening of its National Facilities, a key milestone in our mission to support excellence in life sciences across Italy.
Celebrating this important date, we are pleased to announce that the new Call for Access to the National Facilities is now open. Researchers can submit their proposals until 30 September 2025, via the application portal (opening on 15 June 2025): PICA.
Since their launch, the National Facilities have become a cornerstone of collaborative research, offering open access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise in the fields of omics, imaging, and data analysis. Following the success of previous calls – including the 24-PILOT call, which saw more than 120 project applications – this new call offers an expanded opportunity for scientists to advance their work with support from HT’s expert teams and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The services are entirely subsidized by HT through an indirect financing system and they are available to researchers affiliated with universities, IRCCS, and public research institutions across Italy.
All applications will be evaluated by the Standing Independent Evaluation Committee (SIEC), an external body tasked with ensuring that access is granted based on scientific merit and technical feasibility.
Over the past year, more than 100 projects have already benefited from the support of the National Facilities, generating high-impact results and fostering a strong sense of scientific community.
Voices from our National Facilities Users
This new call reinforces Human Technopole’s commitment to advancing open, collaborative, and high-quality research across the life sciences.
Turning scientific discoveries into real-world therapies was the focus of the second international conference “Future Trends in Translational Medicine – From Molecules to Therapies,” held at the Complesso Universitario di San Giovanni a Teduccio in Naples on 30 -31 October 2025.
As 2025 comes to a close, we look back at a year shaped by connection, discovery and growth. At Human Technopole, progress happens when perspectives meet, between disciplines, technologies and people. Our holiday card captures this idea visually: what looks like a festive forest is actually a colon under the microscope, a structure that changes depending on how you look at it, reminding us that science often begins with a shift in perspective.
The HT Auditorium at the heart of the MIND district, hosted the presentation of the fifth edition of its Integrated Report, illustrating the first year of implementation of the 2024–2028 Strategic Plan. The document highlights the Institute’s scientific impact and its growing integration within Italy’s life sciences ecosystem, showcasing Human Technopole’s ongoing sustainable transformation throughout 2024.
Today is World Food Day, and we at Human Technopole are proud to share how we have recently joined the Colletta MIND food drive, organised in collaboration with other organisations at MIND – Milano Innovation District and with Banco Alimentare. For over 35 years, Banco Alimentare has been a key player in the fight against food waste and food insecurity, helping families and individuals in need across Italy.
Human Technopole’s National Facilities have launched their third round of access, starting 1 October 2025, inviting researchers to submit proposals for access to cutting-edge technologies in genomics, genome engineering, structural biology, light imaging, and data analysis. The opening comes in a context of strong momentum: since mid-2024, the National Facilities have received 293 proposals in total, with a 36% rise between the pilot and the first call, granting access to 184 projects with a success rate above 60%.
