HT’s National Facilities Invite Expressions of Interest for Large-Scale Genomics Projects
Human Technopole’s National Facilities are inviting Expressions of Interest (EoI) to access Whole Genome Sequencing and Analysis services for large-scale population genomics studies in the biomedical field.
This initiative leverages Human Technopole’s current infrastructure, which can support whole-genome sequencing of at least 10,000 samples annually through subsidised access to services provided by the National Facilities for Genomics and for Data Handling and Analysis.
Large-scale genomics projects have proven transformative in understanding disease mechanisms, identifying genetic risk factors and enabling precision medicine approaches. By coordinating national efforts through this call, Human Technopole aims to maximise the scientific and clinical impact of Italy’s investment in genomic infrastructure whilst positioning the country to contribute substantially to international genomic medicine efforts.
This request for expressions of interest is designed to gauge the needs, vision and potential contributions of Italy’s scientific community towards genomic medicine. Whilst submitted expressions of interest will not undergo formal evaluation and do not constitute applications for access to the National Facilities, submitting an expression of interest is a mandatory prerequisite for participation in any subsequent calls for Special Projects (26-SP-G-LARGE SCALE).
Key dates:
9th February 2026: Applications Open
20th of April 2026: Applications Deadline
More information on how to submit the expression of interest can be found here.
We expect the analysis of all the EoIs submitted to guide drafting of a call, which we anticipate should be communicated in the later half of 2026.
Human Technopole has opened a new Call for Access to its National Facilities, offering researchers across Italy the opportunity to use advanced technologies, specialised expertise and scientific support across HT’s shared research infrastructure.
“Shaping the future of human health, together”: Human Technopole’s new claim was the central theme of the event held this morning at the Senate of the Republic. The conference “Human Technopole Foundation: a model of open research and innovation in the life sciences” provided an opportunity to present the third biennial Report to Parliament for 2024–2025, marking the Foundation’s definitive transition to a new phase of maturity.
Human Technopole has opened a new Call for Access to its National Facilities on 1 February 2026, offering researchers from Italy the opportunity to access cutting-edge technologies and expertise across the institute’s advanced research platforms.
Human Technopole’s National Facilities have launched their third round of access, starting 1 October 2025, inviting researchers to submit proposals for access to cutting-edge technologies in genomics, genome engineering, structural biology, light imaging, and data analysis. The opening comes in a context of strong momentum: since mid-2024, the National Facilities have received 293 proposals in total, with a 36% rise between the pilot and the first call, granting access to 184 projects with a success rate above 60%.
The Glastonbury Group at Human Technopole has been awarded a competitive grant as part of the “From Bed To Bench: the way to innovation” funding programme promoted by the Fondazione Regionale per la Ricerca Biomedica (FRRB). The study, funded with 2.000.000 euros, 600.000 of which will go to the Glastonbury group directly, will begin in late 2025 and run for 3 years.
