Wolfram Pönisch

Wolfram Pönisch is a theoretical physicist by training, specialising in the stochastic morphodynamics of living systems.

He studied Physics at the University of Leipzig and completed his Master’s degree there in 2013. He then carried out his PhD in Physics at the Max Planck Institute for the Physics of Complex Systems (MPI-PKS) and the Technical University of Dresden, finishing in 2018. His doctoral research focused on the aggregation and collective dynamics of bacteria.

He subsequently joined University College London (UCL) and the University of Cambridge as postdoctoral research associate, where he studied the morphodynamics of cell state transitions. From 2019 to 2023, he was a Herchel Smith Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Department of Physiology, Development and Neuroscience (PDN) at the University of Cambridge.

In 2026, he joined Human Technopole as a Research Group Leader.
