Niccolò Alfano
- Senior Technician, National Facility for Genomics
I have got a Master degree in Biology at University of Milano-Bicocca. Then I moved to Germany where I have obtained a PhD in virology, genomics and evolutionary biology working 4 years at the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research in Berlin.
Afterwards, I have worked for 3 years as PostDoc at Fondazione Edmund Mach (Trento) in the field of virology and molecular eco-epidemiology. I have then spent another year as PostDoc at University of Pavia working on population genomics of arboviral vector mosquitoes.
During my career, I have focused on applying new methodological and computational methods (high-throughput sequencing, -omics approaches, targeted enrichment methods, metagenomics) to analyze complex microbial and viral communities from animal and environmental samples.
