Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer

In May 2020, Human Technopole was given the task of creating a Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer (CITT) with the aim of helping to promote a wider exploitation of the results of research and technological innovation in the Italian life sciences sector.

The activities of the CITT, launched in July 2021, are focused on three main areas of interest:

  • Training: entrepreneurial training opportunities for researchers operating in Italy
  • Networking: creating and implementing a network of actors operating in the tech transfer sector
  • International Promotion

Training

CITT contributes to the entrepreneurial training of Italian scientists operating in the life sciences through dedicated courses aimed at offering young researchers the basic tools and useful contacts to enhance intellectual property.

International Promotion

Given Human Technopole’s strong international ambition and the contribution the institute is making to Italy in fostering the circulation of brains, not only by bringing Italian excellence back, but also by attracting talent from abroad, CITT intends to further foster this process by expanding it to include activities related to technology transfer.

The goal is to encourage interaction between the Italian tech transfer system and that of other countries, to study models potentially applicable to Italy, foster exchanges between researchers, and attract talent and funds to innovation produced in the country.

In 2022, CITT participated in the Study Tour “Switzerland, Cradle of Innovation: Lausanne, Basel, Zurich, Bellinzona (14-16 June), which resulted in an event organised together with the same diplomatic representation and Milano&Partners, “Life Sciences Ecosystem in Milan: meeting the Swiss Delegation” (24 November).

In addition, CITT participated in the event “Tyrol 2030: New Perspectives for Life Sciences” (Oct. 25) and initiated a dialogue to explore collaborations with additional countries in 2023.
