High-resolution, optics-free functional imaging based on high-density MEA electronic interfaces measuring extracellular voltage potentials. The assay is suitable for characterizing functional phenotypes in cell networks and for compound screening, like in brain and cardiac 2D/3D cell models. The systems available are:
- BioCAM DupleX and planar MEAs electronic chips equipped with 4,096 simultaneously recording electrodes (3BRAIN AG, Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland). The MEAs chip is the CorePlateTM 1W38/60 (NF55.003_MEA chip testing and provision/NF55.004_MEA chip rental) with an active sensing area of 3.8 mm x 3.8 mm; each electrode measures 21 mm x 21 mm with a 60 mm pitch. The system is particularly suitable for accessing the electrical phenotype of brain and cardiac tissue.
- BioCAM DupleX and 3D MEAs electronic chips equipped with 4,096 simultaneously recording electrodes (3BRAIN AG, Pfäffikon SZ, Switzerland). The MEAs chip is the CorePlateTM 1W-3D 38/60/90-X (NF55.014_MEA single well 3D) with an active sensing area of 3.8 mm x 3.8 mm, each electrode height is approximately 90 mm, with a section at the tip measuring approximately 14 mm x 14 mm with a 60 mm pitch. This system is highly recommended for acute recording of tissue or organoids.
- MaxTwo (MaxWell Biosystems) and 6-Well Plate (NF55.010_MEA multiwell system). Each well has a 3.85 x 2.10 mm2 active sensing area equipped with 26,400 electrodes with 17.5 mm pitch. Each well can simultaneously record from 1,020 electrodes. The system is ideal for neuronal cultures and tracking changes in neuronal arborization over time.
