Alberto Mantovani

Alberto Mantovani, a Milanese physician, is President of the Fondazione Humanitas for the Research, professor emeritus at Humanitas University, and former scientific director of IRCCS Istituto Clinico Humanitas. He previously worked in England and the United States, and was head of the Department of Immunology at the Mario Negri Institute in Milan. He has contributed to the advancement of knowledge in immunology by both formulating new paradigms and identifying new molecules and functions. Member of the US National Academy of Sciences, Accademia dei Lincei and Academia Europaea, he is the most cited Italian researcher in the international scientific literature, the most cited immunologist in Europe and one of the most cited in the world. He has received numerous national and international awards and prizes for his research activities.
