Postdocs at Human Technopole

The HT Postdoctoral Programme is designed to empower early-career scientists to thrive as independent researchers, future leaders, and active contributors to a vibrant scientific community.
Research Excellence
Postdocs at HT pursue research excellence by leading their own projects within a world-class environment that values curiosity, innovation, and collaboration. The HT Postdoctoral Programme supports the development of scientific independence while fostering interdisciplinary exchange and mentorship.
The extended network of advanced facilities available at HT enables Postdocs to
- access state-of-the-art technologies in the fields of Structural Biology, Genomics, Genome engineering and disease modelling, Light Imaging, and Data handling and analysis;
- work with experts in the field with whom to choose the best experimental approach and develop new technologies to answer the scientific question;
- acquire new and interdisciplinary knowledge, expertise and skills.
Training & Career Development
HT offers a wide range of training and career development initiatives tailored to the specific needs of postdoctoral scientists. From mastering grant applications for competitive funding schemes to strengthening skills in research project management, effective scientific communication, and leadership, our internal courses (Internal Training – Human Technopole) are designed to support every stage of your career trajectory.
As part of its tailored development offer, HT has also created an original workshop focused on “How to Choose a Scientific Problem” specifically designed to help postdocs cultivate the mindset needed to identify personal, innovative, and impactful research questions—and to strategically develop them into compelling research programs.
Showcasing Research

Postdocs are also encouraged to actively present their own work.
As part of the annual institutional programme of HT Seminar Series , 3rd and 4th year Postdocs are selected to present their work as speakers, giving them a valuable platform to showcase their research to the broader scientific community.
The Postdoc Chalk Talks provide a unique informal platform where researchers pitch their project ideas using only a whiteboard and marker. This format emphasizes the importance of clarity of scientific thinking over polished results, promotes constructive peer feedback and provides a gym for a format often used in Group Leaders job interviews.
Moreover, the annual PhD/Postdoc Symposium—organized by early-career researchers themselves—is a flagship event to showcase ongoing projects, build visibility, and spark collaboration across HT.

Contributing To External Training And Supervision
HT promotes external engagement as a form of professional growth.
Postdocs participate in external training events not only as learners but also as instructors or mentors, contributing to broader training activities, conferences, and workshops. These opportunities allow researchers to enhance their teaching skills and broaden their impact within and beyond the institute.
Moreover, postdocs have the opportunity to supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students during their internships at HT. This supervisory role strengthens essential skills such as leadership, communication, mentoring, and project management, while also providing a meaningful avenue to shape the next generation of scientists.
In addition, senior postdocs are invited to attend Group Leader recruitment symposia and candidate chalk talks, gaining first-hand insight into how high-level scientific hiring decisions are made – an invaluable opportunity to better understand expectations and evaluation criteria at the leadership level.
A Structures Support Network
To enhance their experience at HT Scientific Training Team actively supports postdoc development by offering guidance in organizing scientific and networking activities, providing one-on-one coaching sessions, and advising on career and skills development.
Community & Engagement

A dynamic and inclusive community is central to the HT postdoc experience. Regular social events, including happy hours, chalk talks and networking gatherings, help build strong connections across disciplines and teams. Postdocs are also represented at the institutional level through two elected Postdoc Representatives, who participate and present in Faculty meetings thus ensuring a continuous open dialogue between the Postdoc community and HT Leadership.
HT Postdocs are also invited to take part as speakers in institutional outreach activities, allowing them to communicate their research to broader audiences, strengthen their public engagement skills, and build visibility that supports their academic and professional advancement.
Postdocs are encouraged to engage in all aspects of academic life at HT—whether by mentoring junior researchers, participating as trainers in HT training courses and organizing seminars and symposia. This not only enhances visibility and leadership experience but also strengthens HT’s collaborative scientific ecosystem.
Whether you’re mentoring, presenting, training, or simply enjoying a coffee with fellow researchers, the HT Postdoc Programme offers you a platform to grow, connect, and make your mark.
