HT National Facilities: One Year On, New Call Open
On 10 June, Human Technopole marks the one-year anniversary of the official opening of its National Facilities, a key milestone in our mission to support excellence in life sciences across Italy.
Celebrating this important date, we are pleased to announce that the new Call for Access to the National Facilities is now open. Researchers can submit their proposals until 30 September 2025, via the application portal (opening on 15 June 2025): PICA.
Since their launch, the National Facilities have become a cornerstone of collaborative research, offering open access to cutting-edge technologies and expertise in the fields of omics, imaging, and data analysis. Following the success of previous calls – including the 24-PILOT call, which saw more than 120 project applications – this new call offers an expanded opportunity for scientists to advance their work with support from HT’s expert teams and state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The services are entirely subsidized by HT through an indirect financing system and they are available to researchers affiliated with universities, IRCCS, and public research institutions across Italy.
All applications will be evaluated by the Standing Independent Evaluation Committee (SIEC), an external body tasked with ensuring that access is granted based on scientific merit and technical feasibility.
Over the past year, more than 100 projects have already benefited from the support of the National Facilities, generating high-impact results and fostering a strong sense of scientific community.
Voices from our National Facilities Users
This new call reinforces Human Technopole’s commitment to advancing open, collaborative, and high-quality research across the life sciences.
On 27 and 28 March, the SIEC (Standing Independent Evaluation Committee), visited HT to discuss the results of the first call for access, which was considered a pilot phase, and refine the upcoming call, planned to be published at the beginning of June 2025.
After the success of its inaugural edition, which gathered over 100 participants, the HT PhD Student & Postdoc Symposium returns for its second year on 30 September 2025. Join us in supporting the future of life sciences. Every contribution can make a difference!
Human Technopole has presented 102 research projects that were the first to benefit from the cutting-edge equipment of the National Facilities — the advanced technologies that the Institute makes available to external researchers from across Italy. The majority of studies focus on cancer and neurodegenerative diseases, accounting for 50% of the selected projects. The announcement was made this morning in Milan during “Open HT – The Open Day on Life Sciences”, an event designed to showcase Human Technopole’s achievements and outline future goals.
Human Technopole is offering up to 10 fully funded PhD scholarships through the SEMM PhD Program in Systems Medicine. These scholarships are open to talented and motivated graduates—both from Italy and abroad – interested in pursuing doctoral research.
Human Technopole is proud to announce the launch of its new Gender Equality Plan (GEP) for 2025-2027, a strategic initiative designed to further integrate gender equality across all aspects of the Institute, building upon the successful outcomes of the previous GEP (2022-2024). HT has also achieved the UNI/PdR 125:2022 certification, which recognizes organizations that promote gender equality and foster inclusive workplaces.
